Charlies Driving School LLC ("we") runs the Charlie's Driving School student portal. We are the controller of the personal information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used.
What we collect
- Identity and contact details: name, date of birth, age, email, phone, home address.
- Account details: login email and password (stored securely).
- Course records: class schedule, quiz answers and scores, signed policies and signatures, in-car evaluations, instructor feedback, lesson bookings.
- Learner's permit details: permit number, expiration date and a photo of the permit.
- Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, and usage logs.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide your driver education course, records and lessons (performance of our contract with you).
- To submit completion records to the Maryland MVA and keep records the law requires (legal obligation).
- To send booking confirmations, reminders and account notices (contract performance).
- To keep the portal secure and prevent fraud, and to improve it (legitimate interests).
- To answer your questions and provide support (contract performance and legitimate interests).
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host the portal, store files and send email for us.
- Stripe, our payment processor, which securely handles card payments. We never see or store your full card number.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants.
- The Maryland MVA and other authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep course records for as long as required by Maryland driver education rules, and other information only as long as needed for the purposes above. After that, it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your information, or ask how it is used, by emailing charliesdriving@outlook.com. Some records must be kept by law. We will respond within a reasonable time, and within any period the law requires.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections, private file storage for signatures and permits, and access controls so that only you and authorised staff can see your records.
Cookies
The portal uses only essential cookies and browser storage needed to keep you signed in and the site working. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear them in your browser settings, but you will be signed out.
